Fundraising Tips

Once your fundraising page is active, it's time to share your link! Before you send out that mass email to everyone in your contact book, first send out an email to your absolute closest friends and family. Ask them if they'll consider kicking off your fundraiser by making one of the first donations. This is one of the most important tips for success! Your inner circle of friends and family will be the most generous. Once you get a few donations, other people will be more likely to donate when they see others have donated before them.

It's important that you stay consistent. While some people will donate the first time you ask them, the reality is that it will take at least 2-3 friendly reminders before the majority of your friends and family open up their wallets for you. Post updates encouraging your friends to donate, celebrate the latest donations and, above all, be grateful with donors.

Ask for donations using email
Here’s how to share your link by email:

1. Go to your fundraising page.

2. Look for the “SHARE THIS PAGE” buttons.

3. Click on the email button (envelope.)

4. Once you've personalized your email, click the "Send Email" button.

TIP: Adding a specific donation request to your email will help get results. For example, "Here is the link to my personal fundraising page. Will you donate $10 to help me reach my $100 fundraising goal?"

Important Fundraising Tips
• Jumpstart your fundraising campaign by making a donation to your own page. It shows your donors you're right there with them.

• Add your fundraising page link to your email signature. A simple line such as: "I’m fundraising for the Northeast Spinal Cord Injury Fund in honor of David Hudgik. Will you donate $10 towards my goal? (Add your personal link here) Thanks!"

• Just ask. The worst someone can say is no. They probably won't say no. If they do say no, try giving them a look that says "Come on, really?", and wait. They'll probably say yes.

• When you email your friends and family ask them to share your page with their friends and co-workers using the "SHARE THIS PAGE" buttons on your page.

• We know fundraising can be hard. When the going gets tough, remind yourself that you're an awesome person and you're raising money for an awesome cause. Whether you hit your goal or not, your efforts make a difference.

• Last but not least, always remember to have fun. Fundraising shouldn’t be a chore. It should be a fun activity. If you’re having fun with it, your positive energy becomes contagious and will make friends and family want to donate.
